Aquila Clean Energy and Pepino City Council agree on measures to boost social and economic progress in Toledo

– Aquila Clean Energy is committed to promoting, in collaboration with the City Council of Pepino, a series of measures to contribute to social progress in the municipality

– These initiatives form part of the development of a 20MW solar photovoltaic plant, which will contribute to the creation of around 70 jobs during its construction

Madrid, 13 December 2023 Aquila Clean Energy, a company that develops and operates renewable projects with a focus on solar, wind and battery energy storage, has signed a collaboration agreement with the City Council of Pepino, with the aim of maximising its positive impact on the territory.

The joint declaration includes a series of social and environmental measures that aim to contribute to the development of the municipality. This agreement is linked to a 20MW solar photovoltaic project being developed by Aquila Clean Energy in the region, which will help create around 70 jobs during its construction and avoid the emission of around 9,600 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere per year.

Among the planned actions, there will be online training sessions for unemployed people, a training plan for the assembly and maintenance of photovoltaic installations and an environmental education day for schoolchildren.

For Inocencio Gil Resino, Mayor of Pepino: “This is an unbeatable opportunity to work for our neighbours, collaborating to try to ensure that the jobs generated by this initiative are for the people of Pepino and its surroundings, without forgetting the companies in our area that are candidates to provide the materials and services that Aquila Clean Energy may require.

“The Pepino City Council is showing its firm commitment to energy sustainability, environmental protection and the territorial cohesion of the rural environment, by clearly committing to the implementation of photovoltaic plants in our municipality”.

Jorge de Miguel, Head of Development and Construction at Aquila Clean Energy in Spain, says: “At Aquila Clean Energy we are committed to the development of renewable installations in conjunction with local administrations. The signing of this agreement with the Pepino City Council is in line with our aim of promoting the generation of local employment opportunities, environmental protection and territorial cohesion in rural areas”.

Among the social measures to be developed, an awareness-raising session on employment opportunities in the photovoltaic energy industry stands out. This event will be held with the aim of informing and training young people and people interested in the territory about employment opportunities in photovoltaic energy generation and the operation of solar plants, and will include a visit to the plant.

Aquila Clean Energy will also hold an environmental education day, where students can learn about renewable energy and the importance of conserving the natural environment and local biodiversity.

These initiatives highlight Aquila Clean Energy’s commitment to sustainable development and making a positive impact in the region, as well as its vision of establishing a close and beneficial partnership with the local community.

Aquila Clean Energy develops and operates clean energy assets throughout Spain. It currently manages around 60 projects in Spain with a total capacity of more than 3GW.
