Aquila Clean Energy and Holaluz finalise a PPA for a solar PV park in Toledo (Spain)

– This agreement involves the sale and purchase of renewable energy from an Aquila Clean Energy solar park with a capacity of around 22 MW, which will allow Holaluz to connect 10,000 new customers to green energy.

– The solar park is located in the municipalities of Pepino and Talavera de la Reina (Toledo). After commissioning, scheduled for March 2024, the park will produce more than 45 GWh of 100% clean energy each year.

Madrid. March 13, 2023. Holaluz, an energy transition technology company, and Aquila Clean Energy, a company that develops and operates clean energy assets with a focus on solar and wind power, have signed a PPA (power purchase agreement) for a solar park with a capacity of around 22 MW located in the municipalities of Pepino and Talavera de la Reina (Toledo).

Under this agreement, Holaluz will buy the renewable production of this solar park, which is scheduled for commissioning in March 2024, and will produce more than 45 GWh of 100% clean energy per year. This is equivalent to the energy consumption of 13.000 Spanish homes and represents a saving of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere of around 13.300 tonnes (estimated for 2023).

For Holaluz, this PPA represents a further step towards achieving its aim of helping to create a planet driven by renewables. The energy it buys will allow it to supply around 10,000 Holaluz customers with energy entirely of green origin.

For Aquila Clean Energy, the signing of this PPA forms part of its strategy to promote the energy transition in Spain and achieve a more sustainable future. This photovoltaics park is part of a portfolio of more than 650 MW that the company manages in Castilla-La Mancha. In total, Aquila Clean Energy manages a portfolio with a capacity of more than 3GW in Spain, with projects under development, construction and operation in various regions of the country.

Marcos Domínguez, Director of Power Markets at Aquila Clean Energy for Iberia says: “The signing of this new PPA with Holaluz demonstrates our desire to continue contributing to the energy transition in Spain through the generation of clean energy. This type of power purchase agreement is a fundamental tool to our achieving this objective, especially given the current volatility and uncertainty in power markets”.

Holaluz offers a unique value proposition based on the combination of two businesses: connecting people to 100% green energy and transforming rooftops into renewable energy producers through the “Rooftop Revolution”. This is a circular system that exponentially increases Holaluz’s positive impact on people and the planet.

In the last year, Holaluz has signed several PPAs that have allowed it to add more than 50 MW of renewable energy and connect more than 35,000 new customers to green energy and fair prices.

This project also contributes to Holaluz’s ESG strategy, which aims to promote local and small-scale energy producers, both with rooftop and ground-mounted installations as part of a collaboration programme with small generators. It also brings the company closer to achieving Net Zero objectives and reaching climate neutrality before the commitments established by the European Union.
